2. Pricing & your margin

You set your fee per payment type. Your merchant pays your cost plus your fee.

The number you enter is your fee — the markup you add on top of your cost. Your merchant pays your cost plus your fee. So your profit is simply the fee you set.

What each box shows

When you onboard or edit a merchant, every payment type has a fee box. Around it we show two things so there's nothing to work out:

  • cost X% — your all-in cost for that payment type. This is one bundled number; you don't need to think about what makes it up.
  • merchant pays Z% — what your merchant is actually charged: your cost plus the fee you enter. Updates live as you type.

Example

Say your cost on cards is 12.5%, and you set your fee to 5%:

Your cost (shown for you)12.5%
Your fee (what you enter)5%
Merchant pays17.5%

You enter 5 — just your fee, not the total. Your merchant is charged 17.5% (your 12.5% cost plus your 5% fee), and the 5% is yours. Set your fee to whatever you like; there's no cap.

Your cost is a single all-in number — everything needed to run that payment type is already included. You never have to add anything to it yourself; just choose your fee, and the “merchant pays” figure shows the merchant's real rate.

Different fees per merchant

You can charge each merchant a different fee, and a different fee per payment type (cards vs crypto, etc.). Change it any time from Edit rates on their card. You can only price the methods we've enabled for you — if one you want is missing, ask us to add it.
